The whole project went on a quite different journey compared to my initial ideas. Due to other challenging things that happened, I had to readjust and change my plans, as well as my methodologies, in order to make them work well in a different frame.
But even in the most exhausting situations, the strategy of being open for spontaneous inspiration, and letting my surroundings influence me, helped me to figure out my right path.
In combination with using the program TouchDesigner to alter my recordings in a very psychedelic, and what might be called ‘fried’ way, creating a unique visual design for the techno remix of Mozart’s Molto Allegro, which is a song that was released at the end of 2023, by the DJ duo G&J.
In the end, the video turned out pretty different compared to what I expected when I started working with the footage. Nonetheless, I am very satisfied with the outcome, and glad about all the twists and turns this project took, because it arrived at a great point.
I intended to create something that’s not just matching the beat, but also the whole spectrum of feelings within the music. To me, personally, the video definitely achieved that. I am curious to get more reactions and feedback from others.
For the future, I keep the possibility in mind to extend the project on a bigger scale. By making it into a live VJ-ing performance, using sensors to let my body movements play the visuals as if they were an instrument. – A metaphor or realization of the thought, that we feel music in our whole body.
This project is not the first one where I needed to trust my instincts and the way my surroundings influence them, and it is a method that has helped me out a lot so far. I am getting better with re-adjusting to new and challenging situations, and this project definitely had a positive impact on me in regards to that. Even though I prefer it if it is more organized and not as stressful – I still enjoyed it a lot to create this work.
