At the beginning of the 3rd semester, I got into a relationship with one of my roommates. And because she’s my first girlfriend, there were a lot of new experiences.

For example, what we named the lesbian knot. Without being disrespectful towards straight relationships, we both think that the physical contact, like cuddling, between women is different.

No matter how we’re positioned, we always end up in a knot of our limbs.

It’s not just lying in each other’s arms, it’s a whole body-entanglement.

Besides that, I was experimenting quite a lot with Dall•E, as well as an App called Dream through the whole semester.

At some point, I was curious what an AI would make out of such a description. So I tried it with both of them, and by using the prompt “Animated hyperreal fluid simulation of liquid tangled knotted rope chain, colorful pastels pink orange white, shiny soft surface, holo rainbow reflections in the background, positive mood, love“, Dall•E’s AI generated the piece in the center.

Usually when I like the result, I make variations from it to see if something similar comes up, which I maybe like even more. These are the prints left and right.

Honestly I didn’t just like what came out of it - I loved it. (And I still do)

For me, it’s a surprisingly accurate visual representation of what I feel when I’m in the knot, while at the same time looking aesthetically pleasing even in an objective way.
