The video is the final version of our assignment where we had to create a 'cineseizure' after James Leo Cahill.
We had to use found footage of our own choice and re-compose parts of it with a lot of repetition to create a new meaning. If you repeat one or a few seconds over and over again, micro-movements which usually wouldn't be recognized that much, can become the center of attention. At times it can even have something hypnotic.
I decided to use footage from the most popular political Russian talk show, which goal has always been to disturb objective reality by spreading propaganda ideas, but since the war in Ukraine started, the level of absurdity in the propaganda has increased even more.
The nonsense and false information which is spread especially by the host Vladimir Solovyov, gets to it's peak when he tries to speak German. His furious outbursts get deselected in my edit, focusing on short, sometimes maybe seemingly random parts.
This satirical work underlines and amplifies the fact, that propaganda, like presented in this show, is already close to a superlative presentation of a obscured reality. All I really did with my edit, is not so much to amplify this phenomenon, but to focus on it. To put a spotlight on the absurdity. Focussing on how far the narrative has been removed from the truth. And all of this within the most public and famous talkshow within Putins media machine. It is truly scary, but also plain hilarious, if observed in such a way.

This video-series is a first version of our assignment where we had to create a 'cineseizure' after James Leo Cahill.
I used a compilation of old TV food commercials to make three different versions. Showcasing how extremely different men and women were and still are portrayed in adds and media in general - sexualizing the female body & appearance as a way to get attention.
The last version was more an additional (fun) experiment, using a song about drugs as another base for the editing. Kind of to create a comparison regarding the different kinds of consumption.
