It’s a work in response to the text "What my Fingers Knew - The Cinesthetic Subject, or Vision in the Flesh" by Sobchack, Vivian Carol.
“My body is the fabric into which all objects are woven, and it is, at least in relation to the perceived world, the general instrument of my ‘comprehension”
During our class, which was part of the 5th semester, we discussed the hapticity of audiovisual artworks. We were asked to “make a work that refers to 'affective mode of spectatorship' (that is lived and is felt through the body, evoke a bodily response)"
I decided to use old footage from a summer vacation, in order to create a kind of meditative piece, based solely on visuals of water in a swimming pool. Both the visuals and the audio, give the viewers a chance to truly feel, and completely take in the water – even though they can’t directly physically touch it.
The visuals slowly transform from a clear image into more and more abstract and colorful alterations. Pulling in the viewers, and letting them dive directly into this experience.
