The video was created in response to the article 'Towards a Poetics of Artificial Superintelligence - Symbolic language can help us grasp the nature and power of what is coming (2015).
"Imagine a machinic mind with unlimited cognitive power. With near infinite memory and processing ability. With access to, and understanding of, all the information about anything that has ever happened, is happening and might ever happen. A near limitless capacity to extract and form meaning from the trillions upon trillions of events and beings and interactions in the known world."
Thought after the first time reading the text (04.03.2023)
If we continue the way we do right now, the new intelligence created by us, will begin to understand other forms of intelligence, already existing on our planet
We rather invent a new intelligence, on the basis of what we understand as intelligence. But we haven’t even been able to understand the other kinds of intelligence which exist since millions of years together, and even before us
How can we be that blind towards this obvious situation?
Just because these intelligences are different, most of us humans don’t consider them as intelligences, as they think of themselves as humans as the only real intelligent being on this planet
As if our intelligence was worth more, just because we were able to force ourselves and our way of understanding life onto these other living beings
But if the humans continue with such a self-glorifying mindset, they will suffer from not appreciating what has been with them all along
And maybe the hilarious part about this will be, that the new intelligence which we build from our image of intelligence, is going to be the one punishing humans for this lack of cognition and their ego which grew way to big
Humans would benefit from learning more about how humble other intelligences use their powers compared to us, who are the number one exploiters.
That’s the one thing we’ve always been better at than the others, exploiting what this world gifted to us, because we always want more and more, never being satisfied or grateful enough to stop this terror
05.03.
We don’t see them for who they are
Too blind to understand these other minds
Blinded by our (own) condescension
As if we were wearing blinkers that shield us from everything that’s not thinking in the same way we do
We only measure intelligence by the parameters we set for ourselves, and by that being absolutely ignorant about the fact that intelligence is not an attribute solely for humans
Now we already reached the point where even the best programmers can’t understand the intelligence behind some algorithms
So we basically created another intelligence which we can’t fully understand, all on our own
In a way, we’re creating more questions and problems to solve, before we barely answered the ones related to what has been around us since the beginning of our existence
With the video I made, I wanted to direct some attention towards one of them: Trees (/ The Forests)
