It’s a work about experiencing trauma flashbacks in everyday moments, where the most random object, noise, or situation can trigger what's buried deep inside of you. Awakening old pain, that brings back memories and images from moments that can't be forgotten.
In this project, I use realistic shots from the 'outside world', in contrast with heavily altered, surreal and frightening shots from the 'inside world'. This is my way to visualize the intense shift of feelings, that oftentimes happen when having trauma flashbacks.
I'm currently still working on the 'inside world', which is resembled by AI generated videos/ animations. The ones that can be seen in this video are only fillers to show the vibe and give examples for what the final product will look like.
Assignment guidelines:
In moving image there are several different sorts of spaces. The image is itself is like a photograph projected maybe on a flat screen like the canvas of a painting or the flat surface of a photograph. The two-dimensional composition consists of the organization of shapes, textures, colors, and patterns of light and dark. Composition also represents three-dimensional space in which the action occurs.
In this assignment you will investigate ‘spatial relations’ in moving image. These ‘spatial relations’ are not the subject. The use of the space or motion is what we investigate but the outcome has to be something else.
The assignment gives you the opportunity to create one video/ film. It can be documentary, art, registration, narrative-film or fiction or a essay-film. The good thing is you will have one semester for this assignment, you can decide your own process and workflow and learn from your mistakes. Their will be peer to peer presentations and feedback sessions and workshops like editing or scene direction.
Your project (film) can be an interview, a dance, a monologue, a long take or shot, a narrative fictional scene, a moving portrait, it can be anything as long as it is using ‘moving image’ and spatial relations to tell a story.
